The Fish Catcher Experiment

g9h

a new play

by Eugenia Macer-Story

THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY

February 2-20 2011

Premiere Reading

St. Marks In The Bowery--NYC

February 4, 2010

In "The Fish Catcher Experiment"a full length play scripted by Eugenia Macer-Story, scientists from several countries attempting to study the powers of a guru in Old Ceylon encounter the actual "Fish Catcher" known to the original inhabitants of the Pacific Rim. We started off in February 2010 with a literary reading of the script which will become a staged production in February 2011 at Theater For The New City--NYC. The "scientific" dilemma is amusing. Please follow us as we explore the morphing of events by a form of "natural magick". The cast in February 2011 will be slightly different.
ORIGINAL CAST: Richard Craven,  Von Jacobs,  Pamela Mayo, Patrena Murray, Evan Neumann, Jen Oda, Hugo Salazar Jr, Dean Schambach, Nate Steinwachs, Stefanie Tara, Gregory Youdan Jr.

RED WHEELBARROW POETS JOURNAL  KICKS OFF

SECOND CENTURY OF RUTHERFORD’S LITERARY PROMINENCE

Rutherford, NJ, August 6, 2009: One hundred years ago, in 1909, William Carlos Williams put Rutherford on the literary map with his self-published first book of poems. This year, the Red Wheelbarrow Poets, founded by the William Carlos Williams Poetry Cooperative of Southern Bergen County, start the second century of that ongoing tradition with the release of the new issue of their literary journal, The Rutherford Red Wheelbarrow, featuring poetry and prose from dozens of area writers, previously unpublished and rare work from Williams, and an excerpt from a memoir about life in Haiti during the turbulent days of the Duvalier regime.

The Red Wheelbarrow Poets, celebrating Rutherford as a nexus of poetic energy, will release the second edition of The Rutherford Red Wheelbarrow on Wednesday, September 9 at a 7 PM reading in the Williams Center for the Arts, One Williams Plaza, Rutherford, NJ. The yearly anthology will be sold at the reading and can be ordered online at www.lulu.com/content/5737914 beginning Sept. 9. It will also be available at the annual Williams Symposium to be held in October at the Williams Center.

The Rutherford Red Wheelbarrow 2 joins the first edition, which was released last fall, in unveiling another unpublished poem by Williams.  It contains letters from Williams to his mother and his poet friend Ezra Pound, and the transcript of Williams’ 1955 Voice of America broadcast about his home town. Among the thought-provoking essays in the prose section is “Willie Williams’ Rutherford” by Borough Historian Rod Leith, encapsulating the popular bus tours he gives of local sites associated with the poet.

This anthology includes "To Dionysus" by Eugenia Macer-Story along with work by many other NYC and NJ poets.

Set in the 1970’s, "The Sin Of Love", sometimes humorously, portrays the relationship of people steeped in the intellectual preconceptions of U.S. Ivy League literature & social associations with the angels & demons of the "world of shadows" which underlies all human civilization. A universal "initiation" in all cultures is this meeting with the trans-human personae which participate in the development of a nexus of cosmic intelligence.

THE LIBERATION OF LITTLE LULU

or MARTIN LUTHER KING DETAINED IN LIMBO

By

E. Macer-Story

directed by

Michael-David Gordon and Eugenia Macer-Story

eagle sculpture set piece & vevier by (E)ugenia Macer-Story

“The Liberation of Little Lulu” is an expressionist play about the assistance which can be provided to confused members of the middle class, no matter what color or nationality, by those who may have less material means but have a mysterious link to certain spirits and angels  who manifest in the midst of crisis. This is a humorous play, in the tradition of jazz, minstrel shows and vaudeville.

REVIEW

http://retrovisiontheater.blogspot.com
Wednesday, February 22, 2006

Yes folks, it Black Box Theater Wednesday here at RetroVision Theater and this week’s review and
recommendation goes to “The Liberation Of Little Lulu” Or ( “Martin Luther King Detained In Limbo” ).
Written by E. Macer-Story and directed by Michael David Gordon and Eugenia Macer-Story, this high energy mad
capped zany macabre and by their own admission, minstrel and vaudevillian inspired production is about the
confusion one faces while awaiting judgment in limbo long after death.
The time period is the sixties after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King with the back drop of the ensuing
riots that take place in protest.
The insanity begins as we see King continuously confused and dismayed by the greeters in limbo who are
charged with acclimating the new arrival to the realization of his recent status; just another soul waiting in a very
long line to be judged and or processed.
Unable to accept his circumstance King spends most of the play in denial until he is forced to confront Little Lulu
aka God.
A
s good as the aforementioned was, the story was given added flavor by the outrageous character “Chicken
little”, a neighborhood nut that hangs out in the local park communing with a multitude of spirits visions and kooky
characters all linked by the need to appreciate a huge paper eagle statue that has a mystical presence. Wow. No,
Double Wow! It’s nutz but a lot of fun.
I am sure glad that Christian fundamentalists are a little more controlled because a comparable production about
the Prophet Mohammad would piss a lot of people off in some parts of the world.
